A green screen activation where the people of Melbourne got to be the Olympic flag bearer and stand in front of the Australian Olympic team
Photos instantly sent to the user and to a outdoor digital billboard
2016 Summer Olympics fans gathered in Federation Square in Melbourne to experience a moment as the Australian Flag Bearer with Channel Seven’s Olympic Greenscreen activation.
Users were ushered in front of a large green screen and provided with a full-size Australian flag to pose with. Once the photo was snapped, our iOS application would process the image on the fly and replaced the green screen background with a photo of the Australian Olympic team at the Olympic opening parade. Melbournians snapped photos as the sun rose, so our app had to think quick on its feet, allowing for minute adjustments with the rapidly changing light at the touch of a button.
Once snapped, the photos of our new flag bearers were posted to the digital billboard agency APN’s system for distribution to a network of digital signs around Melbourne, including a larger than life billboard in Federation Square.
Users were also sent an email with their photo as a keepsake, and they were driven to the 7News Olympic Click2Share site to view all their photos from the day, download them at full resolution or share them to Facebook, Twitter or Google+.
