It starts with an idea...

It all began in July 2007, when Telstra engaged Raw Ideas to build a flexible cross-channel messaging system that did more than the simple ‘Text Message to Email’ products available at the time.

The system has evolved to include additional modules which cater for the ever-changing experiential marketing space.

COSI has the ability to handle thousands of messages every minute - delivered from a variety of channels including Text, Picture Messages, Email, FTP and more. Flexible architecture ensures other incoming channels can be added in the future.

In essence, the system receives an input, processes it according to a modifiable set of rules and then provides a result via an output channel - such as dispatching a text message or uploading a file to a specified website.

Some of the processing modules created include:

  • Picture processing
  • Video processing
  • Moderation
  • Text processing

While there are general modules that are flexible and are used across a variety of systems, there are also some highly specialised modules, among them outputting a specific file to allow the TV networks to integrate data into their on-air graphics systems like on-screen tickers.

COSI allows Telstra to successfully run hundreds of consumer promotions: enabling consumers to engage and interact with new technologies in a variety of contexts.
